A painter.
He was born in 1920 in Olesk, Ukraine; died in 1972 in Warsaw. In 1946 he graduated from Gdańsk University of Technology where he studied Architecture. He also studied at The Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in Eugeniusz Eibisch’s atelier. Since 1951 he lived in Warsaw where he was a teacher at the Academy of Fine Arts. He was made professor in 1954. Kobzdej was one of the leading representatives of socialist realism. In 1950s he turned to abstract painting.
